Workshop Committee

This workshop is structured to consider microgrid solutions within the framework of the smart grid. In the morning the theme will be smart grid technologies, among them communications networks for smart grid implementations, wireless sensors, controls, switches, and database management. A panel will explore smart grid solutions that bring these technologies and solutions together.

In the afternoon the workshop will introduce tools for microgrid implementation. The focus will be on applications of the Distributed Energy Resources Customer Adoption Model (DER-CAM), a tool for the optimization of microgrid assets. Examples will be given from feasibility studies for New York Prize projects and IITÕs Microgrid Expansion Planning Study. A major workshop activity will be the application of the DER-CAM model and practical training on its use for community leaders as well as technical experts

The program will conclude with a tour of the IIT Microgrid, one of the first and most successful deployments of microgrid and distributed energy resources in the U.S.
