REGION 6 2005 TECHNICAL FIELD AWARD RECIPIENTS

Region 6 Director Evelyn Hirt has great pleasure to provide you with
the list of the 2005 IEEE Technical Field Award recipients in Region
6. The IEEE Technical Field Awards were established to provide
recognition for outstanding achievements in special fields of
electrical and electronics engineering.

The following list includes the names of recipients, the awards they
will receive, and their accompanying citations. Technical Society,
Section and Region Affiliations are noted for those recipients who
are IEEE members.
 

2005 IEEE Technical Field Award Recipients - REGION 6

  • IEEE Cledo Brunetti Award - sponsored by the Brunetti Bequest to:

    WILLIAM G. OLDHAM (LF'IEEE) - Professor, University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley, CA

    "For pioneering contributions to lithographic engineering and to high-density isolation technology."

    He is a member of the IEEE Electron Devices Society and is located in Region 6. He is also a member of the IEEE Oakland-East Bay Section.

 

  • IEEE Internet Award - sponsored by Nokia Corporation

    SALLY FLOYD (SM'IEEE) - Research Scientist, ICSI Center for Internet Research, Berkeley, CA

    "For contributions to the Internet architecture, particularly in the areas of congestion control, traffic modeling, and active queue management."

    She is a member of the IEEE Computer and the IEEE Communications Societies and is located in Region 6. She is also a member of the IEEE Oakland-East Bay Section.

 

  • IEEE Solid-State Circuits Award - sponsored by the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society to:

    BRUCE A. WOOLEY (F'IEEE) - Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering, Stanford University, Stanford, CA

    "For pioneering contributions to integrated electronics for analog-to-digital data conversion in communications systems."

    He is a member of the IEEE Circuits and Systems, IEEE Electron Devices, and the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Societies. He is located in Region 6 and is also a member of the IEEE Santa Clara
    Valley Section.

 

  • IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award - sponsored by the Kiyo Tomiyasu Fund to:

    CHAI K. TOH (SM'IEEE) - Director of Research, Communication Systems, Northrup Grumman Mission Systems, Carson, CA

    "For pioneering contributions in communication protocols for ad hoc mobile wireless networks."

    He is a member of the IEEE Communications Society and is located in Region 6. He is also a member of the IEEE Orange County Section.
