Statement of Candidacy
It is an honor to be considered for the position of
Director-Elect/Delegate-Elect for 2006-2007 of IEEE Region 7, a truly
unique entity encompassing one country with its linguistic and cultural
diversity. I have been an active IEEE volunteer, both at local and
Regional levels, for more than 15 years. This experience gives me a
balanced perspective on how IEEE Region 7 functions. I offer the
following objectives:
- Growing IEEE membership with emphasis on student members through cooperation with University executives and IEEE Canadian Foundation.
- Further improving IEEE Canada publications (i.e. print and online versions, emphasizing their bilingual content) by involving academic, industrial and commercial partners to match members' interests in technical and professional areas.
- Reaching out to industry and promoting the IEEE as a partner for professional development and continuing education.
- Rejuvenating Sections and Chapters activities by adding a new Canadian Distinguished Speakers program to deal with professional and non-technical aspects.
- Increasing services to our members by establishing a new committee for promoting job opportunities and establishing a Consultant's Corner.
