Dr. Om P. Malik

Dr. Om P. Malik, the current editor of the CJECE, is a faculty professor at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta. Before taking over as editor, he was an associate editor of the CJECE for ten years.

After graduating in electrical engineering from Delhi Polytechnic, India, in 1952, Dr. Malik worked for nine years in electric utilities in India. He obtained a Master's degree in electric machine design from Roorkee University, India, in 1962, and a Ph.D. and D.I.C. from Imperial College, University of London, in 1965. He came to Canada in 1966 and taught at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, for two years.

Dr. Malik has been at the University of Calgary since 1968, involved in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and administration. Dr. Malik has done extensive research in the areas of adaptive control, protection and application of AI techniques in power systems. He is a Fellow of IEEE, IEE and EIC, and a registered professional engineer in the provinces of Alberta and Ontario. Dr. Malik is an associate editor and on the Editorial Advisory Boards of a number of international journals in the field of electrical engineering.
