SAMPLE TOPICS
The 2002 Canadian Conference on Computer and Software Engineering Education, C3SEE02, provides a forum for the presentation of computer and software engineering education developments in Canadian universities. Papers are invited, in English or French, including but not limited to the following topics:
1. Software Engineering as a Profession
- Formation of the scope of SWE;
- Requirements from several perspectives (academic, national, professional).
2. New Developments in SWE Education
- Separate and joint undergraduate options/programs in engineering or non-engineering departments;
- The role of CS in SWE education;
- Teaching methods (lectures, laboratories, tools, resources, funding).
3. New Developments in CTE Education
- Teaching methods (laboratory design, tools, resources, funding);
- Simulation versus hardware laboratories;
- Embedded systems;
- Real-time operating systems;
- Computer networks and networking;
- Systems design.
4. Graduate Programs and Research in CTE and SWE
- Innovative courses and laboratories;
- Exchange of faculty and students;
- Collaboration within Canada and elsewhere.
5. Industrial and R&D needs for CTE and SWE: A Panel Discussion
6. Accreditation and Professional Registration for CTE and SWE Graduants
- CEAB accreditation issues (basic science, math, electrical, and design components in CTE and SWE programs);
- Distance education and on-line learning;
- Co-op programs.
WELCOME TO PARTICIPANTS
We welcome participation from Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science (CS) faculty members, and would like to see at least one representative from each ECE department and each interested CS department in Canada. The conference registration of $200 will include all meals (two breakfasts, two lunches, one dinner, and four refreshment breaks), and conference proceedings in a printed form. Since the conference will take place on the campus, an inexpensive accommodation ($32 single, $23 double) has been arranged at a University of Manitoba residence.
COLLOCATION WITH CCECE02
To reduce the cost of flying, the C3SEE02 will take place immediately after the IEEE 2002 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, CCECE02, so that some of the participants could attand both conferences.
We want to encourage all to come to this important event.
