Abstract:
Stuff You Don’t Learn in Engineering School:Skills for Success in the Real World, Carl Selinger

This unique seminar helps engineers learn non-technical professional skills that are important to be more effective and happier in the real world. These soft skills include making decisions, setting priorities, negotiating, teamwork, running meetings, better writing, speaking and listening, dealing with stress, and yes, having fun. Come join us for discussions and garner real, practical advice from a seasoned engineering manager. Carl’s talk is down-to-earth in plain English, practical, and entertaining . . . with tips everyone can take away and apply immediately to work, school, and in their personal lives.
    Corporate Courtesies, Lew Bayer

Whether you’re interacting with co-workers, dining with clients or entertaining suppliers at a sporting event, you are expected to present a polished and professional image of yourself and your company. This means knowing what is appropriate dress, how to handle yourself at dinner, how to make guests comfortable and what the guidelines are for mixing business and pleasure in any situation. Attention to the details and surpassing clients’ expectations is key to creating a memorable positive impression. Join Canada's etiquette expert, Lew Bayer from In Good Company, and learn the basics of modern business etiquette.
