2. AWARDS
As usual, the process requires a nominator who must fill a form and then contact other people who will act as reference. The reference must fill the respective form. The number of reference varies from one award to another.

The awards are the following
- Premio Ingeniero Eminente del IEEE Latinoamérica
El objetivo de este premio es reconocer a aquellos miembros pertenecientes a cualquiera de las Secciones que forman la Región Latinoamericana, que hayan contribuido en forma significativa a la promoción y engrandecimiento de las disciplinas profesionales que forman parte del IEEE. La fecha límite de presentación de candidaturas es el 31 de diciembre de cada año y el premio será entregado durante la siguiente Reunión Regional.

- Premio Voluntario Sobresaliente "Oscar C. Fernández" del IEEE Latinoamérica
Este premio es instituido como un medio de reconocer y estimular a los voluntarios del IEEE en la Región y como un medio de reconocer a aquellos que hayan contribuido en forma sobresaliente en su Sección del IEEE Latinoamérica. La fecha límite de presentación de candidaturas es el 31 de diciembre de cada año y el premio será entregado durante la siguiente Reunión Regional.

- Premio IEEE Theodore W. Hissey
Este premio es instituido como un medio de reconocer y estimular a los voluntarios del IEEE en la Región que hayan efectuado importantes contribuciones omo un medio de reconocer a aquellos que hayan contribuido en forma sobresaliente en su Sección del IEEE Latinoamérica. La fecha límite de presentación de candidaturas es el 31 de diciembre de cada año y el premio será entregado durante la siguiente Reunión Regional.

- Premio Regional al Mejor Logro del Año
Este Premio será otorgado por el Director Regional de la Región 9 en cada Reunión Regional Anual de la Región Latinoamericana, a la Sección que a juicio del Comité Regional haya realizado una actividad de tal trascendencia en el año anterior a la reunión, que sea merecedora a este reconocimiento de acuerdo a los criterios de evaluación que el reglamento del premio establece. La fecha límite de presentación de las candidaturas es 10 días antes de la Reunión Regional, lo que ocurre aproximadamente el 27 de febrero.

- IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Accreditation Activities
Recognizes IEEE members for efforts to foster the maintenance and improvement of education through the process of accreditation engineering, engineering technology, computer science programs and applied science programs. The award consists of $1000 and a brass and walnut plaque.

- IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education
Recognizes IEEE members for the dedicated contribution to the design, delivery, and support of continuing education courses and programs in the fields of interest to IEEE members. The award consists of $1000 and a brass and walnut plaque.

- IEEE EAB Major Educational Innovation Award

- IEEE EAB Pre-University Educator Award
Recognizes current pre-college classroom teachers who have inspired an appreciation and understanding of mathematics, science and technology and the engineering process in students and have encouraged students to pursue technical careers. The award consists of $1000 and a brass and walnut plaque.

- IEEE EAB Meritorious Service Citation
Recognizes IEEE members who are past members of the EAB or current or past members of EAB Committees (other than currently serving on ARC) for outstanding and sustained service to the aims and objectives of the IEEE Educational Activities Board. The award consists of a brass and walnut plaque.

- RAB Achievement Award
To recognize individuals involved with RAB and/or the Regional network for singular achievement in the development and completion of a project(s) or activity(ies) which are directed to the fulfillment of one or more of the goals and objectives of RAB. This award is designed to recognize those substantive projects or achievements of a relatively short nature (one to three years) but which have left an undeniable imprint on the fabric of regional operations. Up to six awards annually.

- RAB Innovation Award
To recognize the accomplishment judged to be the most innovative and effective in fulfilling one or more of the goals and objectives of RAB and/or the personal goals of the Vice President - Regional Activities. One award annually.

- RAB Leadership Award
To recognize those individuals who have exhibited exemplary and substantive leadership of an extraordinary nature in implementing activities which support RAB goals and objectives at the local, regional, national, and/or international level. Up to three awards annually.

- RAB Larry K. Wilson Transnational Award
To recognize the accomplishment judged to be the most significant and effective in fulfilling one or more of the Transnational goals and objectives of RAB and/or personal goals of the Vice President of Regional Activities as related to Transnational activities. This award is made in memory of Dr. Larry K. Wilson. One award annually.

- William W. Middleton Distinguished Service Award
To honor an individual, who over a long and sustained period of leadership contributed in an exemplary manner to the Regional Activities Board (RAB), its activities and achievements and the attainment of its goals and objectives.
The award is named for William W. Middleton, http://www.ieee.org/organizations/rab/rab/Awards/Middle_bio.html, who for over thirty years has been associated with and contributed to the growth and maturation of RAB through service on it and its various Committees and Task Forces and was chosen to be the first recipient.

Other RAB Awards
- Friend of IEEE Regional Activities Award
The Friend of IEEE Regional Activities Award was created to specifically recognize support provided to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (the Institute) and its members in support of its goals by firms, divisions of firms or individuals.
There will be two types of Friend of IEEE Regional Activities Awards : Individual and Organizational. In addition, each award can be earned at two levels: Supporting and Sustaining Friend. Nominations may be submitted an any time during the year.

- Section Significant Anniversary Banner
To recognize a Section for outstanding longevity through continuity in member support and enthusiasm. The anniversary dates for all Sections are shown in Section Significant Anniversary Dates. Award must be presented by the Regional Director or his delegate, at an occasion selected by the Region Director

- RAB Outstanding Large Section Award
The RAB Outstanding Section Award will be awarded to one Section to recognize the excellent work of the Section in the past year. The total membership of a Large Section (including Students) shall be 501 or greater as of 31 December of the prior year. The Schedule is the following

- Recipient notified - Following June RAB Meeting

- RAB Outstanding Small Section Award
The RAB Outstanding Section Award will be awarded to one Section to recognize the excellent work of the Section in the past year. The total membership of a Small Section (including Students) shall be 500 or less as of 31 December of the prior year. The Schedule is the following:

- Recipient endorsed by RAB ARC - 1 June
- Recipient notified - Following June RAB Meeting

- RAB Gold Achievement Award
This award is designed to recognize those substantive projects or achievements of a relatively short nature (one to three years) but which have left an undeniable imprint on the fabric of GOLD operations. The award will be based on a selection that recognizes individuals involved with GOLD activities who are recognized for singular achievement in the development and completion of a project(s) or activity(ies) which are directed to the fulfillment of one or more of the GOLD goals and/or objectives. The individuals nominated must be GOLD members at the time of nomination. Up to six awards per year. The following is the timetable:
