Abstract:
In this paper we propose two new spectrum allocation (SA) algorithms called Best Fit (BF) and Bit Rate-Aware (BRA), which are applicable to elastic DWDM optical networks under dynamic operation. In addition, we propose a new performance evaluation metric called spectrum fragmentation index, complementing the traditional analysis based on the blocking probability of connections. It evaluates and compares the performance of the algorithms through simulation. The results show that the proposed algorithm BRA presents the best performance compared with the most algorithms cited in the literature.
