Abstract:
The National Interconnected System has undergone constant performances of their protection systems due to defects at various points of the Brazilian Electric System. These events cause stoppage of some productive areas that needs large amount of instantaneous power, causing production losses. Thus, companies have been investing in its own production of energy by the installation of generators, taking advantage of byproducts of its production chain as fuel. The entry of new generators in the electrical system can significantly impact the power flow and voltage conditions on consumers and transmission and distribution systems. This requires detailed evaluation of the system to define the impact of new generators within this system, to ensure correct parameterization and operation of the protection system. This paper presents a case study for the parameterization of the distance protection on 138 kV overhead lines using Power Tools for Windows software (PTW) and considering the input of distributed generators in the industry.
