Abstract:
Due to the shutdown of the analog TV signal transmissions and the proliferation of new installations of the Brazilian Digital TV System throughout the country, it is necessary a deeper understanding of the main characteristics of the digital TV propagation channels to enable the implementation of these new systems in a more streamlined and efficient manner. The propagation models considered for the Brazilian Digital TV System deployment follow national and international standards and recommendations, however, in general, these models are not very accurate due to specific terrain variations and intrinsic stochastic propagation characteristics of each region. Accordingly, this work proposes two new propagation models based on bioinspired techniques, configured as universal approximators, and on field measurements of the signals transmitted in Sao Paulo city. The proposed models are analyzed and compared to the main models disclosed in the literature.
