Lecture: "Statistics and Clinical Medical Research" (March 2007)

Topics included: Parallels between research in Medicine and Engineering; The process of research in medicine; Common statistical procedures in clinical medical research; Statistical errors in medical research and their clinical impact.

Bio: Douglas Stanley is a statistical consultant with the Office of Clinical Research at St.Boniface General Hospital and teaches statistics at the School of Medical Rehabilitation, University of Manitoba. He has more than 25 years experience conducting medical research at St.Boniface General Hospital. He has degrees in Electrical Engineering and Psychology from the University of Manitoba.

Distinguished Lecturer (November 2006)

Join us for a lecture from Dr. Michael Neuman, PhD in Electrical Engineering and MD, on "Miniature Biomedical Sensors: An Emergent Technology for Biomedical Research". He is the Department Chair of Biomedical Engineering at Michigan Tech. He was Editor in Chief of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering. He is listed as an International EMBS Distinguished Lecturer. He has authored textbooks and registered patents. Join us for an evening of wonderful ideas, snacks and refreshments!
