Absorption Charge: The second stage of three-stage battery charging. The voltage remains constant and current tapers as internal battery resistance increases during charging.
Alternating Current (AC): An alternating current that reverses direction at regular intervals.
Alternating Voltage: A voltage which periodically changes its polarity.
Alternation: One-half of a cycle, consisting of the complete rise and fall of an alternating voltage or current in one direction.
Alternator: An alternating current generator.
Anode:In a diode, the electrode that must be positive with respect to the cathode to allow the diode to conduct. The plate of an
electron tube.
Ampacity:The maximum amperage a given wire size can safely deliver.
Ampere (amp): A unit of electrical current or rate of flow of electrons.
Amperage: The strength of an electrical current expressed in amperes (amps).
Ampere Hour (amp hour): A constant current flow of one ampere for one hour of time. This commonly use measure of battery storage capacity, multiplied by the battery voltage, will give the total electrical energy stored in watt-hours.
Array: Any number of Photovoltaic modules connected together electrically to provide a single electrical output.
