Balance of System (BOS): Parts or components of a Renewable Energy system other than the solar array.
Battery: A series of single 2 volt cells.
Battery Capacity: The total amount of electrical energy, in watt hours, available from a battery.
Battery Cell: The basic structural unit of a battery; one 2 volt unit connected in series or parallel to create a battery. For example, a 6 volt battery is made up of three 2 volt cells.
Battery Cycle Life: The number of times a battery can be discharged then recharged again. The number of cycles is dependent upon the depth of discharge of each cycle.
Blocking Diode: A one-way check valve allowing electricity to flow in one direction.
Bulk Charge: The first stage of three-stage battery charging. Current is sent to batteries at the maximum rate they will accept while voltage rises to full charge level.
