Awards
The Consumer Electronics Society has a
number of awards under various categories
and this page details the awards we present.
The Ibuka Technical Field Award
|
The IEEE Masaru Ibuka Consumer
Electronics Award was established
by the IEEE Board of Directors in
1987 to recognize outstanding contributions
in the field of consumer electronics
technology. It may be presented
annually to an individual or team
of up to three. It must be noted
that the Ibuka award is an IEEE
Field Award, not a Society Award.

The Early Career Award
|
The award
will be distributed annually to
recognize an individual who has
made a substantial contribution
in the field of Consumer Electronics
in the early stages of his or her
career, and to promote and support
Early Career Development within
the Consumer Electronics profession.
It comprises a stipend of US$1,000
and a certificate, to be presented
at a CE Society conference of the
winner’s choice. Recipients

Chester W Sall Memorial AwardsThese set of awards are to recognize the best papers published in the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics. A 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place Best Paper Award is given and presented at the next ICCE. The Award consists of a plaque and a financial award.Recipients of the Sall Award can be found Here. Outstanding Service Award (established in 1993)This award is to recognize outstanding service to the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society and is presented at a CE Society conference or supported event or at a meeting of the CE Society Administrative Committee. The Award consists of a plaque.Recipients of the Outstanding Service Award can be found Here. Significant Achievement Award (established in 1998)This award is to recognize outstanding contribution to the consumer electronics industry. The technical achievement for which the award is given shall have been described in a paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics within the previous five years. The award may be presented to an individual, a team or an organization at the discretion of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society. of the oral or poster presentation.

GIC Awards
|
The Consumer Electronics Society's
Games Innovation Conference offers
best paper awards based on audience
judging of the oral or poster presentation
and also bursaries to student presenting
the most interesting papers. |
ISCE Awards
|
The International Symposium on
Consumer Electronics offers an Engineering
Excellence Award, an Engineering
Leadership Award and Best paper
awards all judged by the organising
chapter. The Engineering Excellence
Award is presented to Engineers
who have given outstanding contribution
to the development of Consumer Electronics.
The Engineering Leadership Award
is to honour an Engineer who manages,
supports and promotes engineering
and related activates including
Engineering Education, membership
support and strategy development.
The 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd
place best paper awards are selected
from the submitted papers prior
to the Symposium. All awards are
presented at the Symposium |
Nominations for IEEE Awards
The IEEE Awards Program provides peer recognition
to individuals whose contributions to the
art and science of electro- and information
technologies worldwide have improved the
quality of life.
The IEEE Consumer Electronics Society members
may be particularly interested in the following
Technical Field Awards, whose nomination
deadlines are 31 January 2011. The awards
typically consist of a bronze medal, certificate
and cash honorarium.
IEEE Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronics Award for outstanding contributions in the field of consumer electronics technology.
IEEE Internet Award for network architecture, mobility and/or end-use applications
IEEE Reynold B. Johnson Information Storage Systems Award for outstanding contributions to information storage systems, with emphasis on computer storage systems.
IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award for Emerging Technologies for outstanding contributions to emerging technologies recognized within recent years.
IEEE Frederik Philips Award for outstanding accomplishments in the management of research and development resulting in effective innovation in the electrical and electronics industry.
Awards presented by the IEEE Board of Directors
fall into several categories: The Medal
of Honor, Medals, Technical Field Awards,
Corporate Recognitions, Service Awards,
and Prize Papers. The IEEE also recognizes
outstanding individuals through a special
membership category: IEEE Honorary Member.
Nominations are initiated by members and
the public, and then reviewed by a panel
of peers. Their recommendations are submitted
to the IEEE Awards Board prior to final
approval by the IEEE Board of Directors.
