CPMT Technical Committee
on Electrical Contacts, Connectors, and Cable (TC-1)
The scope of this Committee is to be the focal point within the IEEE CPMT Society
for electrical contacts, electrical connectors, and interconnecting cable. Its
membership consists of individuals having an interest in the research &
development, manufacture, and utilization of electrical contacts and devices
which contain them. The Committee holds regularly scheduled meetings and
functions through the Holm Organization and through task forces having specific
objectives. The Committee sponsors or supports conferences, publications,
educational, standardization, and other activities.

Special
Announcement
·
Professor Werner Rieder,
a long time (50 years) member of the Holm conference, passed away on February 12, 2006 of a
stroke. He was 87 years old. As one
would expect of him, he died while immersed in his work. Prof. Rieder was a
vibrant and lively fixture of the conference for many, many years. Many
of you have worked with him over the years and I'm sure have fond memories.
In addition to his massive body of work in the electrical contact field,
he mentored many in this field and stimulated many lively discussions during
the conference. …..by Henry Czajkowski,
2006 IEEE Holm Conference Chair.
·
Professor Rieder was
honored by the Austrian government with his image on a postage stamp, and we
all recognize his achievement in the 2004 Holm and International Conference in Seattle (TC1 newsletter
2004).
