ICREPEC 2004 |

The conference was held at Changshu International Hotel, in the ancient city of Suzhou, China. Over 180 engineers from 7 countries attended to participate in the 46 presentations. The conference proceedings (an English and a Chinese version) included 79 technical papers that covered reliability studies in power transmission, contactors, circuit breakers, relays, switches and connectors. Fundamental studies such as arc erosion and material development, as well as statistical analysis of reliability testing, test standards and quality were discussed. The conference was opened by conference chair Professor Jianguo Lu ( Hebei University of Technology) and International Advisory Committee Chair Professor Jigao Zhang (Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications). The keynote address was made by Professor Liechu Shen (Chairman of China Electromechanical Society, with >50,000 members) who emphasized the importance of electrical product reliability in China's manufacturing future, as well as China's support for professional and personal relationship in these conference exchanges. The audience also received a warm welcome from Mr. Jiankang Wang, the major of Changshu. The conference was packed with a busy schedule of technical discussions from 8AM to 6PM, and ended with a joyous banquet on Monday with treat to a >12 course dinner. The conference also took us to a tour of 3 modern manufacturing and research facilities: Changshu Switching Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Fujidenki Co. Ltd. and the Suzhou New and Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone Inspection and Test Institute for Electrical Equipment. Major industrial sponsors also included Tengen Group Co. Ltd., Xiamen Hongfa Electroacoustic Co. ltd., Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute, Transaction of China Electromechanical Society, Professional Journal of Low Voltage Apparatus. The organizing committee also
announced the 2nd ICREPEC to be held in Spring 2007 in Xiamen, a beautiful
