CPMT Technical Committee on Electrical Design, Modeling and Simulation

Mission

Provide technical and organizational support to the CPMT society in the area of electrical design, modeling and simulation. Steer both the society and the academia to focus on critical areas of study that will benefit both the industry and the university environment.

Scope

The committee meets once a year at EPEP. The scope of this committee is to influence CPMT activities and publications in the area of electrical design, modeling and simulation. This includes:

  1. Development of pertinent short courses.
  2. Selection of appropriate topics for technical sessions.
  3. Selection of appropriate distinguished speakers.
  4. Sponsorship of new conferences or workshops.
  5. Leadership roles in existing conferences and workshops.
  6. Standardization of design tool interfaces and methodologies.
  7. Provide a forum for the distribution of design tools developed at universities to industry for evaluation.

Objectives

Today, low I/O peripheral leaded packages are being replaced by high I/O, multi-layered flip chip packages. These packages need to support high frequency digital and RF signals. As the designs increase in complexity and performance, accurate electrical modeling is required. In parallel, validation of the modeling codes and methods are necessary. Although large companies have proprietary software solutions and design methodologies, industry and academia would benefit immensely by CPMT supporting publications and conferences in this area. In addition, mixed signal designs are more complex and would benefit from improved design methodology, verification/ testing techniques and design tools.
