IEEE EMBS Student Web

Conferences

Congratulations to all the Student Paper Contest Finalists at EMBC07 in Lyon, France! (Pictured above)

The EMBS sponsors and technically co-sponsors a number of conferences each year. For a full list, please visit the main EMBS website.

EMBS also organises and hosts Summer Schools on a range of topics. For listings and more information, click here.

Each year the EMBS sponsors a major international conference that features diverse topics in the field of biomedical engineering. Regional and special topic conferences are also supported by EMBS. Student members are offered registration at reduced rates.

EMBS conferences provide you with the opportunity to present your research, find out about other projects, and meet other researchers and students in the field of biomedical engineering.  At our meetings, we organize student events to help you meet other students.  These include a social soiree, opportunities to meet leaders in biomedical engineering, special sessions to get students involved with EMBS and tours of universities and laboratories in the area.

Read a Student's Impression of the 2006 Annual Conference in New York:
"On behalf of the rest  of the EMBS students that attended the 28th annual event in New York City in  August 2006, I would like to thank the organizers for a great turn-out of the  student events, especially for the skyline cruise reception ... it really was  a well-thought event. The Student Activities were well-designed to bring  together young researchers from across the world and present them with the  unique opportunity to network, exchange ideas and set the ground for extensive  future collaboration. Interacting with the corporate world is a key component  in our education and training as future scientists. The Lunch with Leaders  enhanced our collaboration with the leaders in the field from both the  industrial and academic world, opening new perspectives beyond our training.  In addition, we all know that New York City is a great touristic attraction,  so while at the conference, I hope most of you had a chence to visit the  Guggenheim Museum ... although under renovations, it had a fantastic temporary  exhibit on the architectural work of Zaha Hadid! Let's keep up the good work  and look forward to getting together again next summer in Lyon for the 29th  EMBC event!"
