Dave Wells' responsibilities and experience bridge industry and academe. His industrial experience encompasses all facets of nuclear power systems services including strategic, managerial, and engineering perspectives. In this sector, remote tooling development, reliability analysis, and outage management are all areas of significant project success. While his industrial research efforts have focused on robotic tooling and safety, his initial areas of academic research includes automated failure identification, fuzzy logic, systems diagnostics, robotic positioning accuracy, probabilistic risk assessment and, more recently, technical career management. He directed the Clarkson University's Engineering and Management Program at Clarkson University from 1986 to 1999 and helped to establish that program's recognition as the leading program of its kind.

Dr. Wells is the Founding Director of the Distribution and Logistics Engineering Program at the University of Houston and a faculty member of the Industrial Engineering Department, a position he has held since January 1999. His current research activities include the Engineering Side of Supply Chains, Virtual Teams, and New Product Development. His consulting activities include distribution management, professional staff development, R&D management, and project management.
