Including Video Files in an HTML Document

The video file format for which WWW browsers on Windows, Macintosh and UNIX machines are typically configured is Apple's QuickTime format. The file extension for QuickTime video files is usually MOV. Playing the files requires a machine with an appropriately configured WWW browser.

To view an example QuickTime video file, click here. (The video file is from "CircuitViz: A New Approach to Teaching Circuit Analysis," by E. R. Doering which appeared in the Special Issue of IEEE Transactions on Education. 39, CD-ROM folder 5, August, 1996. © IEEE. We thank the author, and IEEE Copyrights, for permission to use this material.) To see the HTML statements that constitute the hyperlink, go to the View menu item of your browser and choose the Source item. Using your text editor to modify the hyperlink so that it plays the video file CONCEPT.MOV that is included in the "VIDEO" folder.

To download QuickTime viewer plug-ins for Windows and Macintosh browsers, see, for example, http://www.quickTime.apple.com/dev/devweb.html.
