TRANSACTIONS ON EDUCATION SUPPLEMENTS ONLINE
The Transactions on Education (ToE) is the paper-based journal of the Society. From August 1999 through
May 2001 the Society published several Supplement(s) to the ToE. The Supplement(s) are chock
full of top quality articles on topics that are directly relevant to our Society.
The Supplement(s) were published on 5 CDs and mailed to Society members. As a service to those who cannot avail
themselves of the CDs, or were not Society members at that time, Marion Hagler put quite a bit of time and effort into placing the Supplement(s) onto the
IEEE server so that they can be available to all Education Society members. The Supplements(s)
contains terrific articles and it's well worth your time to look-them-over. To review them, click

THINKING ABOUT SUBMITTING A PAPER TO THE TRANSACTIONS ON EDUCATION??
The Transactions on Education (ToE) is the Education Society's
professional journal, which all members receive. It is published quarterly. Editor-in-Chief
David Conner and his staff do an outstanding job of selecting relevant articles and preparing
them for publication.
If you are considering submitting an article to the ToE please refer to the "manuscript
information" link on the Society's web site or click the "more info" link at the
bottom of this article. BUT read the next section first as there have been some revisions
in the manuscript policy that have not been posted to the EdSoc's web site.
Transactions' Policy Revision
David Conner states that "since the Society just received
important member survey information, the Transactions' has added
additional author instructions that will be integrated into the Transactions information
posted on the Society website."
The revised manuscript policy will state the following:
The Transactions is responsible for publishing manuscripts that address
educational content within Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
and allied disciplines such as Electrical Engineering Technology,
Computer Science, and Information Technology or that address a topic in
K-12 education or industrial education. To be appropriate for
publication review, a submitted manuscript:
(1) must be written in the third person, be typed in 12-point type, have
a single-column format, and be double-spaced;
(2) must include a description of the course or course sequence in which
the content is presented;
(3) must provide a description of the pedagogical issues being addressed
by the content;
(4) must be written in a format that allows educators in the
sub-discipline of the manuscript to be able to utilize the contents in
the manuscript to improving instruction at their institution; and
(5) must include student assessment data that provides information
relative to the strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum content in
satisfying the pedagogical issues being addressed.

ARE YOU AN 'ASSOCIATE' MEMBER??
Take a look on your IEEE membership card. Under your name is your membership grade. If it says ASSOCIATE
then you should consider upgrading to become a MEMBER. There is no cost for this action.
For more details click here and scroll down the web page to the
"IEEE Awards" section. There is a clickable link to the IEEE Web page that will allow you to self-upgrade; or
click here to go directly to the IEEE self-upgrade web page.
ARE YOU A SENIOR MEMBER??
"And why not? Many members do not understand the requirements for and benefits of becoming a Senior
Member. Contrary to popular opinion, a Nobel Prize in Physics, 40 years of experience, and a Ph.D. in Electrical
Engineering are not prerequisites for becoming a Senior Member! Senior Membership confers benefits not
only on the member but on his Section as well...
apply now! For details on b ecoming a Senior Member, visit the
IEEE Senior Member Program page."
(Connecticutt IEEE Section's home page, 2003).
If you are interested in pursuing this, you should start in your local chapter or section, or contact people you 'know' from
conferences as you will need to have 3 references from IEEE members who know you personally.
