Dr. Paolo Tenti
Paolo Tenti ( M'85,SM'91,F'99 ) was born in Bolzano, Italy, in 1951. He received his first degree with honours in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. degree from the University of Padova, Italy, in 1975 and 1979, respectively. Dr. Tenti began working as a lecturer in Electrotechnics at the Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineering, University of Padova, and as a Contract Researcher at the National Research Council of Italy.
In 1979 he became a Contract Professor of Power Electronics; in 1981, a Permanent Researcher; and in 1985, an Associate Professor. In 1990 he became a full Professor of Power Electronics at the University of Catania, Italy. Since 1991 he has been a full Professor of Electronics at the University of Padova.
His main research interests are in industrial electronics, static power conversion, and electromagnetic compatibility. He is particularly interested in the application of modern control techniques to power electronics, and in the development of high frequency resonant converters, active power filters, and integrated systems for harmonic and reactive power compensation. In these areas, he holds national and international patents and has published more than 100 scientific and technical papers, as well as some textbooks.
Dr. Paolo Tenti is very active in the IEEE and Italian Association of Electric and Electronic Engineers (AEI). He served as the President of IEEE Industry Applications Society in 1997. He is the General Chairman for IAS 2000 Annual Meeting, Rome , Italy, which is sponsored as well by IEE, IEE of Japan, and AEI. He is also a member of New York Academy of Sciences. In 1990 he co-founded and chaired the European Sub-Committee of IAS Industrial Power Converter Committee, which has 16 industrial and 15 academic members from 15 European countries, and which holds regular annual meetings. Currently, Dr. Tenti is the President of CREIVen, an Italian Industrial Research Consortium for industrial electronics, with special emphasis on electromagnetic compatibility issues.
