Society & Achievement Awards
IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Mac Van Valkenburg Award

Purpose: To honor a person with outstanding technical contributions in a field within the scope of the CAS Society and outstanding leadership in the field. The award is based on quality and significance of contribution and continuity of technical leadership. Anyone who is a member of the CAS Society is eligible.

Award: Plaque and $2,000 check.

Education Award

Purpose: To honor a person with outstanding contributions to education in a field within the scope of the CAS Society as documented by publications of textbooks, research supervision of graduate and undergraduate students, development of short courses and participation in adult education. The award is based on general quality and originality of contributions and continuity of effort. Anyone who is a member of the CAS Society is eligible.

Award: Plaque and $1,000 check.

Technical Achievement Award

Purpose: To honor a person with outstanding technical contributions over a period of years within the scope of the CAS Society as documented by publications (including patents). The award is based on the general quality and originality of contributions and continuity of effort. Anyone who is a member of the CAS Society is eligible.

Meritorious Service Award

Purpose: To honor a person with outstanding long-term service to the welfare of the CAS Society. The award is based on dedication, effort and contributions. Anyone who is a member of the CAS Society is eligible.

CASS Industrial Pioneer Award

Purpose: To honor a person or persons with oustanding and pioneering contributions in developing academic and industrial research results into industrial applications and/or commercial products

CASS Vitold Belevitch Circuits and Systems Award
(Next presentation in 2009, nominations due February 15, 2009)

Purpose: To honor a person with fundamental contributions in the field of circuits and systems. Anyone who is a member of the CAS Society is eligible. It is a biennial award to be presented at ECCTD (European Conference on Circuit Theory and Design).

Award: Plaque and $1,000 check.

Chapter-of-the-Year Award

Purpose: To recognize the CAS Society Chapter with the best yearly activities. The award is based on best yearly activities in the categories of Chapter-sponsored technical activities and increase in membership.

Award: $1000 and Certificate to Chapter.

Regions 1-7 Chapter-of-the-Year Award

Purpose:To recognize the CAS Society Chapter in Regions 1-7 with the best yearly activities. The awards criteria include: number and quality of chapter activities, percentage of members attending sponsored events, membership development activities and chapter growth, member promotions, local conferences/symposia/workshops, participation in the Distinguished Lecturer Program, involvement of students and GOLD members, and timeliness of reporting.The overall local environment and factors such as chapter size are considered.

Award: $750 and Certificate to chapter.

Outstanding Young Author Award

Purpose: To honor an especially meritorious paper published in any one of the CAS Society's Transactions whose author at the date of submission is less than 30 years of age. The award is based on general quality, originality, contributions, subject matter and timeliness. Anyone who is an author of papers published in any one of the CAS Society Transactions during the two calendar years preceding the award, who at the date of submission of the paper shall be less than 30 years of age is eligible.

Award: Certificate and $500 check for each author (maximum $2,000 per award).

ISCAS Student Best Paper Award

Purpose: To recognize the best paper submitted to ISCAS by any principle author, who is a full or part-time undergraduate, Masters, or Ph.D Student and chooses to participate in the "Student Paper Contest."

Award: Certificate and check of USD 500 ($2,000 maximum)
