Proceedings:

  1. Chair opens meeting and explains developments over last year leading to his appointment as chair. Hands out agenda, minutes for ISCAS 2001 meeting, bylaws and 2001 TC report.
  2. People present introduce themselves.
  3. New members are presented and unanimously voted onto committee. New members are: Horiuchi, Stocker, Harris, Kramer, Barrettino, Mason, Wu, Rekeczky, Baglio, Maloberti
  4. Corrections to ISCAS 2001 TC meeting minutes: Van Schaik was present at 2001 meeting. Minutes accepted.
  5. Discussion of 2001 TC report:
    1. Misalignment of Papers in the CFP of ISCAS. Analog Track gets papers that should be actually under the SS track.
    2. Papers will be re-aligned after submission and at the winter paper review meeting
    3. The TC name change will be made effective for the 2003 CFP. Otherwise, we will shoot for the 2004 CFP.
  6. Chair will create a mailing list for the TC members.
  7. We discussed a formal proposal to be made to the editors of IEEE Sensors Journal to have a special issue on selected papers from ISCAS.
    1. Possibility of organizing special sessions at the Sensors Conference. Will plan for 2003.
  8. Discussed suggestions for increasing our exposure outside the CAS community. Discussed IEEE sponsored workshops and mini-conferences.
  9. We plan to offer a "Best Paper Award" for our TC. This will be done by ISCAS 2003. The 5 papers with highest review scores will be re-reviewed and best paper will be selected. Award will be given at the TC meeting at ISCAS 2003. A certificate will be provided. Idea will be relayed to Martin Hasler and other TCs. Motion was accepted unanimously.
  10. Franco Maloberti is running for Board of Governors (BOG). Orly Yadid-Pecht is also running for the Analog TC. SSTC support her and provided signatures.
  11. We discussed the Bylaws and minor changes were made. We also discussed a plan to "promote" the past chairs to BOG by nominating him/her and supporting the nomination by participating in the signature gathering and campaign for him/her. We decided that it should be a "tradition" and not included in the Bylaws.
  12. Chair will (has) contacted Barbara Wehner for the TC homepage. This document will appear on the home page.
  13. We planned the next special/invited sessions for ISCAS 2003. Zaghloul and Ahmadi will organize a special session on MEMS applications. Hodge-Miller will organize a special session on Biosensors.
  14. We planned the next tutorial for ISCAS 2003. Etienne-Cummings and Yadid-Pecht will organize a tutorial on Image Sensors.
  15. Other improvements to the TC was discussed:
    1. Maloberti suggested organizing as workshop which can be supported through the Sensors Council
    2. Harris suggested a further refinement of the TC's name. After much discussion (in and out of the TC meeting), we converged on the current name of "Sensory Systems" TC.
  16. Zaghloul and Ahmadi will be given the TC email list for events coordination.
  17. TC officials were elected: Yadid-Pecht was elected to Chair-Elect. Van Schaik was elected to Secretary.
  18. Adjourn
