1. Preamble
Throughout the year 2001, Kolkata PE Chapter organized various technical and educational activities. All these activities involved members from academia, industries and also many R&D institutions. Moreover, it should also be reported here that student members were involved in large numbers in all the activities of the Chapter.
2. Lecture Meetings
Lecture meetings have been organized to provide a suitable
forum for fruitful interaction between the members from academia, industry
and R&D sector. In the year 2001 altogether 5 lecture meetings
had been organized. Several topics of current relevance to the field of
Power Engineering were discussed in these lecture meetings.
3. Distinguished Lecturer Program
Power Engineering Chapter jointly with IEEE Calcutta Section organized a one-day tutorial program in 2001 under the aegis of Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) of IEEE Power Engineering Society. The instructor of this tutorial program on 'Numerical Protection' was Prof. M.S.Sachdev, IEEE Life Fellow.
Large number of sponsored delegates from corporate
houses, IEEE members, student members and other distinguished persons attended
the DLP program.
IEEE-PES has granted an amount of US$ 200.00 towards
this DLP program.
4. Award
Power Engineering Chapter of IEEE Calcutta Section recommended the name of Mr. Satya B. Gupta (LM 06358345) as the recipient of Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award for the year 2001 and IEEE-PES has granted this award to Mr. Satya B. Gupta.
5. Chapter Website
The chapter website remained fully functional throughout

Members and interested persons are requested to visit
the online notice board for regular updates on the activities of Kolkata
Power Engineering Chapter.
6. Membership Information
The membership strength of Kolkata Power Engineering Chapter remained steady in 2001.
7. High Performance Chapter Grant
During the year 2001, Kolkata Power Engineering Chapter
has been granted the High Performance Chapter award by IEEE-PES for outstanding
activities of the chapter in the year 2000.
Considering
all the activities of the chapter it may be said that 2001 was a successful
year. Power Engineering Chapter extends its warm welcome to more and more
colleagues in the field of Power Engineering to come and join IEEE fraternity
as members and to provide their valuable advice, special expertise and
pleasing company.
