1. Confirmation of Minutes of the 7th Annual General Meeting

The minutes of the 7th Annual General Meeting had been circulated/read out in the house for confirmation. Resolved that the minutes of the 7th Annual General Meeting held on 13.01.2000 be confirmed as proposed by Sri N.Chatterjee and seconded by Sri S.Chakravorti.

2. Address by the Chapter Chairman

Sri S.B.Gupta, Power Engineering Chapter Chair, welcomed the members present at the 8th Annual General Meeting and wished all members a very happy and prosperous 2001. He reported that the Power Engineering Chapter did many technical activities during 2000 in addition to usual executive committee meetings involving teachers, professional members and students.

Sri Gupta mentioned that in 2000 IEEE-PES granted the Outstanding Chapter Engineer Award to Prof. P.K.Mukherjee, an eminent academician as well as power engineer attached to this chapter. A major achievement of this chapter in 2000 was the receipt of the high performance chapter award from IEEE-PES for fulfilling the standard set forth by IEEE-PES for this award.

Sri Gupta concluded with the hope that the activities of Power Engineering Chapter will continue to operate in 2001 as during the previous years and offered to co-operate and also requested all the chapter members to co-operate with the new committee in the year 2001.

3. 2000 Annual Report of the Chapter Secretary

2000 annual report had been circulated and read out by Dr. K.Bhattacharya, Secretary, Power Engineering Chapter for observation and acceptance by the members present. Dr. Bhattacharya presented a detailed statement of various activities of the chapter in 2000. In the end, Dr. Bhattacharya thanked the members for their constant co-operation and wished them a happy new year.

The aforesaid 2000 annual report was proposed for acceptance by Sri D.Ray and seconded by Sri K. Bhattacharya.

Resolved that the 2000 annual report of the chapter secretary be accepted.

4. Office-Bearers 2001

The Chapter Chair Sri S.B.Gupta read out the SLATE 2001 of chapter office bearers as approved by the nomination committee. This SLATE 2001 has been circulated with the Annual General Meeting Notice.

Noted that the Chairman, Nomination Committee had received no additional nomination by petition within the prescribed date.

Resolved that the proposed SLATE 2001 be accepted.

The resolution was proposed for acceptance by Sri S.K.Mallik and seconded by Sri P.Purkait.

Sri S.B.Gupta then introduced the members of the Executive Committee for the year 2001 and invited Dr. K.Bhattacharya, Chapter Chair for the year 2001, to preside over the meeting for the rest of the session.

5. Address by Chapter Chairman 2001

Dr. K.Bhattacharya in his brief address highlighted the multifpronged activities of Power Engineering Chapter and its growth over the years. He expressed his confidence that Power Engineering Chapter will continue to grow and to carry out its activities further in 2001. In the end he conveyed his best wishes to all chapter members for the year 2001 and requested them to participate in large numbers in all the activities of Power Engineering Chapter in future.
 

        The meeting ended at 18-45 Hrs. with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
