1. Confirmation of Minutes of the 9th Annual General Meeting

The minutes of the 9th Annual General Meeting had been circulated/read out in the house for confirmation. Resolved that the minutes of the 9th Annual General Meeting held on 17.01.2002 be confirmed as proposed by Sri N. Chatterjee and seconded by Sri S.Kar Chowdhury.

2. Address by the Chapter Chairman

Sri K.Bhattacharya, Power Engineering Chapter Chair, welcomed the members present at the 10th Annual General Meeting and wished all members a very happy and prosperous 2003. He reported that the Power Engineering Chapter did many technical activities during 2002 in addition to usual executive committee meetings involving teachers, professional members and students.

Sri Bhattacharya mentioned that in 2002 IEEE-PES has granted the Outstanding Chapter Engineer Award to Sri S.Basu, an eminent power engineer & educator attached to this chapter. A major achievement of this chapter in 2002 was the receipt of the high performance chapter award from IEEE-PES for fulfilling the standard set forth by IEEE-PES for this award. He also mentioned that this is the third successive year from 2000 when the PE Kolkata Chapter has received this award from IEEE-PES.

Sri Bhattacharya concluded with the hope that the activities of Power Engineering Chapter will continue in 2003 as in the previous years and requested all the chapter members to actively co-operate with the new committee in the year 2003.

3. 2002 Annual Report of the Chapter Secretary

2002 annual report had been circulated and read out by Sri S. Chakravorti, Secretary, Power Engineering Chapter for observation and acceptance by the members present. Sri S. Chakravorti presented a detailed statement of various activities of the chapter in 2002. In the end, Sri S. Chakravorti thanked the members for their constant co-operation and wished them a happy new year.

The aforesaid 2002 annual report was proposed for acceptance by Sri S.B.Gupta and seconded by Sri D. Sarkar.

Resolved that the 2002 annual report of the chapter secretary be accepted.

4. Office-Bearers 2003

The Chapter Chair Sri K. Bhattacharya read out the SLATE 2003 of Chapter office bearers as approved by the nomination committee. This SLATE 2003 has been circulated with the Annual General Meeting Notice.

Noted that the Chairman, Nomination Committee had received no additional nomination by petition within the prescribed date.

Resolved that the proposed SLATE 2003 be accepted.

The resolution was proposed for acceptance by Sri S.Basu and seconded by Sri S.K.Mallik.

Sri K. Bhattacharya then introduced the members of the Executive Committee for the year 2003. 

5. Address by Chapter Chairman 2003

Sri S. Chakravorti in his brief address highlighted the multi-pronged activities of Power Engineering Chapter and its growth over the years. He expressed his confidence that Power Engineering Chapter will continue to grow and to carry out its activities further in 2003. In the end he conveyed his best wishes to all chapter members for the year 2003 and requested them to participate in large numbers in all the activities of Power Engineering Chapter in future.

        The meeting ended at 18-45 Hrs. with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
