1. Confirmation of Minutes of the 11th Annual General Meeting

The minutes of the 11th Annual General Meeting had been circulated/read out in the house for confirmation. Resolved that the minutes of the 11th Annual General Meeting held on 15.01.2004 be confirmed as proposed by Sri S.B.Gupta and seconded by Sri S.Kar Chowdhury.

2. Address by the Chapter Chairman

Sri S. Chakravorti, Power Engineering Chapter Chair, welcomed the members present at the 12th Annual General Meeting and wished all members a very happy and prosperous 2005. He reported that the Power Engineering Chapter did many technical activities during 2004 in addition to usual executive committee meetings involving teachers, professional members and students.
Sri Chakravorti informed the members present that the chapter has won the prestigious “Outstanding Small Chapter Award” from IEEE PES for its activities for the year 2003. This award was given to Sri Chakravorti in the IEEE PES General Meeting held in Denver in June 2004.
Sri Chakravorti mentioned that in 2004 IEEE-PES has granted the Outstanding Chapter Engineer Award to Sri D.Ray, an eminent power engineer attached to this chapter. A major achievement of this chapter in 2004 was the receipt of the high performance chapter award from IEEE-PES for fulfilling the standard set forth by IEEE-PES for this award. He also mentioned that this is the fourth successive year from 2000 when the PE Kolkata Chapter has received this award from IEEE-PES.
Sri Chakravorti concluded with the hope that the activities of Power Engineering Chapter will continue in 2005 as in the previous years and requested all the chapter members to actively co-operate with the new committee in the year 2005.

3. 2004 Annual Report of the Chapter Secretary

2004 annual report had been circulated and read out by Sri K.Bhattacharya, Secretary, Power Engineering Chapter for observation and acceptance by the members present. Sri Bhattacharya presented a detailed statement of various activities of the chapter in 2004. In the end, Sri Bhattacharya thanked the members for their constant co-operation and wished them a happy new year. 
Sri N.Chatterjee observed that the name of the IEEE PES DL Dr. Kalyan K Sen be included in item no. 4 of the annual report.
The aforesaid 2004 annual report was proposed for acceptance by Sri N.Chatterjee and seconded by Sri D.Ray.
Resolved that the 2004 annual report of the chapter secretary be accepted with the noted inclusion.

4. Office-Bearers 2005

The Chapter Chair Sri S. Chakravorti read out the SLATE 2005 of Chapter office bearers as approved by the nomination committee. This SLATE 2005 has been circulated with the Annual General Meeting Notice. 
Noted that the Chairman, Nomination Committee had received no additional nomination by petition within the prescribed date. 
Resolved that the proposed SLATE 2005 be accepted.
The resolution was proposed for acceptance by Sri S.K.Mallik and seconded by Sri D.Sarkar. 
Sri S. Chakravorti then introduced the members of the Executive Committee for the year 2005.

The following items were taken up with the permission of the chair.

5. The Executive Committee of the Power Engineering Chapter resolved to honor Prof. Debasis Sarkar (SM01435528) of BESU, Shibpur, Howrah in the year 2004 by presenting him with a certificate for his significant contribution in the growth and sustenance of the chapter.
This certificate was handed over to Prof. Debasis Sarkar by Prof. N.Chatterjee, Former Chairman of the Power Engineering Chapter.

6. Sri S. Chakravorti, Chairman, Power Engineering Chapter, announced that a national seminar will be organized on March 19, 2005 on “Advancements in Condition Monitoring Techniques in Large Electrical equipments” at The Ffort Radisson, Raichak. Sri Chakravorti requested all the members to participate in this seminar and thus make it a success.

        The meeting ended at 19-00 Hrs. with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
