1. Confirmation of Minutes of the 13th Annual General Meeting

The minutes of the 13th Annual General Meeting had been circulated/read out in the house for confirmation. Resolved that the minutes of the 13th Annual General Meeting held on 19.01.2006 be confirmed as proposed by Prof. Niladri Chakraborty and seconded by Prof. Debasis Sarkar.

2. Address by the Chapter Chairman

Prof. S. Chakravorti, Chairman, Power Engineering Chapter, Kolkata, welcomed the members present at the 14th Annual General Meeting and wished all members a very happy and prosperous 2007. He reported that the Power Engineering Chapter organised plenty of technical activities during 2007, in addition to usual executive committee meetings involving teachers, professional members and students.
Prof. Chakravorti mentioned that in 2006 IEEE-PES has granted the Outstanding Chapter Engineer Award to Prof. Srikumar Mallick, an eminent power educator attached to this chapter. A major achievement of this chapter in 2006 was the receipt of the high performance chapter grant from IEEE-PES headquarters for the year 2005, for fulfilling the standard set forth by IEEE-PES for being considered for this award. He also mentioned that this is the sixth successive year from 2000 when the PE Kolkata Chapter has received this award from IEEE-PES for the first time.

Prof. Chakravorti concluded with the hope that the activities of Power Engineering Chapter will continue with the same speed & in the same direction, in 2007, as was in the previous years. He requested all the chapter members to actively co-operate with the new committee in the year 2007.

3. 2006 Annual Report of the Chapter Secretary

2006 annual report was been circulated and read out by Mr. S. Kar Chowdhury, Secretary, Power Engineering Chapter for observation and acceptance by the members present. The Secretary presented a detailed statement of various activities of the chapter in 2006. In the end, the Secretary thanked the members for their constant co-operation and wished them a happy new year. 
The aforesaid 2006 annual report was proposed for acceptance by Dr. D. Ray and seconded by Prof. S. Mallick.
Resolved that the 2006 annual report of the chapter secretary be accepted.

4. Office-Bearers 2007

The Chapter Chair Prof. S. Chakravorti read out the SLATE 2007 of Chapter office bearers as proposed by the nomination committee. This SLATE 2007 has been circulated along with the Annual General Meeting Notice.
Noted that the Chairman, Nomination Committee had received no additional nomination by petition within the prescribed date. 
Resolved that the proposed SLATE 2007 be accepted.
The resolution was proposed for acceptance by Prof. Sujay Basu and seconded by Dr.. Suparna Kar Chowdhury. 
Prof. S. Chakravorti then introduced the members of the Executive Committee for the year 2007 and invited the new Chapter Chairman Prof. Kesab Bhattacharya to address the members present. Prof. Bhattacharya in his address said that he would work hard along with the chapter executive and the members in general to carry forward the good work of the chapter.

The meeting ended at 19-00 Hrs. with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
