A) Technical Lecture Program for Students
A technical lecture on "Triumph of AC over DC" was organized by the Power & Energy Chapter of IEEE Calcutta Section in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Department of BESUS in the seminar room of Electrical Engineering Department of BESUS on 5th March 2009. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Sujay Basu, formerly with Electrical Engineering Department of Jadavpur University.
The program was attended by more than 150 participants, out of which more than 130 were engineering students.
B) IEEE Video show for Students
A program was organized for the students by the Power & Energy Chapter of IEEE Calcutta Section in the seminar room of the High Tension Laboratory of Electrical Engineering Department of Jadavpur University on 14th July 2009. In this program four IEEE videos were shown highlighting the IEEE PES activities and also videos on Smart Grid and Plug-in Electric Vehicles.
The video show was attended by more than 15 students.

C) Technical Visit to 220kV Outdoor Substation
A technical visit to the 220kV outdoor air-insulated substation of West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Limited located at Kasba was organized for the students by the Power & Energy Chapter of IEEE Calcutta Section on 8th August 2009. There were 12 students accompanied by 4 faculty members in this visit.
D) Technical Visit to 132kV Gas Insulated Substation
A technical visit to the 132kV gas insulated substation of CESC Ltd located at Nonadanga was organized for the students by the Power & Energy Chapter of IEEE Calcutta Section on 22nd August 2009.
There were 22 students accompanied by 5 faculty members in this visit.
E) Educational Workshop on Solar Building and Motion
A one-day educational workshop on "Solar Building and Motion" was conducted for students on 14th September 2009 in the seminar hall of Electrical Engineering Department of Jadavpur University, Kolkata. The instructor of this workshop was Prof. Georg-Christof Bertsch of Academy of Art, Design and Media (HIG), Offenbach, Germany. There were 63 participants in this workshop. During the pre-lunch session, Prof. Bertsch explained the various design aspects from the point of view of using solar energy in buildings as well as in cars. In the post lunch session the student participants were divided into eight groups and each group was given a specific problem related to the topic of the workshop. Each group was then given one hour time to come up with suggested solutions to the problems. Subsequently, each group made a short presentation on the proposed solutions to their problems that lead to lively discussions. The workshop was jointly organized by IEEE Power & Energy Chapter Kolkata, Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and Humboldt Club Calcutta with the support of BMZ, Germany. The inaugural program of the workshop was chaired by Dr. Raimer Volker, Director, Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and inaugural talks were delivered by Prof. S.Chakravorti, Chairman, IEEE Power & Energy Chapter Kolkata and Prof. Sibdas Ghosh, President, Humboldt Club Calcutta.

F) Professional Lecture Program for Students
A professional lecture on "Effective Communication Skills" was organized by the Power & Energy Chapter of IEEE Calcutta Section in the seminar room of High Tension Laboratory of Electrical Engineering Department of Jadavpur University on 10th November 2009. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Prabir K Chattopadhyay, Dy. General Manager: Sales (Motor), Bharat Bijlee Ltd. Kolkata.
The program was attended by 24 participants.
A) Seminar Program for Students
A one-day seminar on "Relevance of Core Electrical Sciences in the Backdrop of Growing IT Industry" was organized by the Power Engineering Chapter of IEEE Calcutta Section in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Department of Jadavpur University in the Dr. H.L.Roy Auditorium of IIChE in Kolkata on 5th April 2007. The inaugural address was delivered by Prof. Debesh Das, Honb'le Minster in Charge, Department of Information Technology, Govt. of West Bengal.
The program was attended by 140 participants, out of which more than 100 were engineering students.

A) Technical Visit for Students.
A technical visit to the 132kV Gas Insulated Substation of CESC Ltd located at Park Lane in Kolkata was organized by Power Engineering Chapter for students on 22nd November 2005. 16 students took part in this visit and they were accompanied by Chapter Chair, Prof. Sivaji Chakravorti, Chapter Secretary, Dr. Kesab Bhattacharya and Chapter Execom Member, Mr. Sanjay Kar Chowdhury. The students were very enthusiastic about this visit to the only GIS in the vicinity of Kolkata.
