The Energy Development and Power Generation Comittee operates within the
IEEE Power Engineering Society
to develop standards, guides, and technical presentations related to the
research and development, application, design, construction, and
operation of systems and facilities for the production of electric
power.
Scope Statement
The ED&PGC purpose is to technically promote:
- Treatment of matters related to the research, development,
application, design, construction, and operation of systems and
facilities for the conversion of energy sources (that are not
specifically assigned to other technical committees), such as hydro,
fossil, solar, wind, chemical, nuclear (jointly with Nuclear Power
Engineering Committee, where appropriate), and otehr alternatives
into electrical energy.
- Treatment of matters relating to assessment of energy conversion
systems and facilities. This includes, but need not be limited to,
matters relating to environment, conservation, regulation, economics,
safety, and security.
- Sponsorship and development (either alone or jointly with other
technical committees and/or organizations) of standards, recommended
practices, guidelines, and policies as well as preparation of position
papers and/or documents, technical conferences and/or sessions on
matters related to energy conversion systems and facilities.
- Liaison and cooperation with otehr technical committees, societies,
groups, and associations concerned with various aspects of new energy
conversion technologies.

Technical Subcommittees
The ED&PGC sponsors five main technical subcommittees. They are

esthetics, and other matters as related to the practice of electrical

Meetings
The ED&PGC meets once a year during the Power Engineering Society's
General Meeting.
The meeting is open to all and membership in the Committee is not
required for attendance. If you have an interest in the technical
aspects of energy development of electric power generation, you are
invited to attend and participate in the activities of the IEEE.

Membership
Membership in the Committee, subcommittees, and the work groups it
sponsors is based on membership in the IEEE and in particular in the
Power Engineering Society. Individuals are expected to participate and
contribute to the committee and work groups with their expertise,
interest, and willingness to devote time and efforts in its proceedings.
There may be instances where non-members attendance is beneficial to
certain specific work group activities. For example, expertise outside
the normal area of IEEE such as civil or mechanical engineering may be
desirable for the work groups' effort.
