ICC Spring 1998 Meeting - Toronto, Ontario, Canada

  • An Invitation from the Chairman - Chairman Rick Hartlein would like to invite you to join him in Toronto for the 103rd ICC meeting.
  • Meeting Agenda - Check out the daily schedules (Sunday/Monday or Tuesday/Wednesday) to plan your activities. The Keynote Speaker for the Monday morning Plenary Session will be John N. Brooks, President and CEO of the Toronto Hydro-Electric Commission. Be sure to attend this session to get an overview of the week's activities and an update on any last minute changes. We'll be adding more info regarding the agenda as the meeting approaches, so keep checking back.
  • Registration - Preregistering saves you money if you meet the deadline! It also helps us better plan the meeting. As a courtesy to international members and guests, you can pay the registration fee on site at preregistration rates if you fax or mail your registration forms by the deadline. Please bring a check for US funds or cash, we do not accept credit card payments. You can use the form in the packet you receive in the mail or complete, print and mail the the on-line form.
  • Hotel Information - The meeting will be held at the Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto. Their phone number is (416) 368-2511. Please make your hotel reservation as soon as possible. You may call 1-800-441-1414. The cutoff date for room reservations is March 5, 1998. The ICC is committed to a minimum occupancy in order to receive the privilege of free meeting rooms so please use the official hotel for your accommodations to help us meet this requirement. Be sure to see the Chairman's invitation letter for further information regarding parking and airport transportation.
  • Didactic - The Wednesday afternoon Educational Program will consist of two sessions. The first is entitled, Polymer Science for Cable Engineers and will be taught by Haridoss Sarma of AT Plastics. The program will be geared toward new cable engineers who need to learn the meaning of terms like low density, high molecular weight and cross-linked polyethylene. The second session is entitled, Distribution Network Operations. This session will be coordinated by Shayne Wright of Houston Lighting & Power and will cover Manhole Fires, Fault Locating on Network Circuits, Maintenance and Problem Mitigation Techniques.
  • New Member Orientation Session - A New Member Orientation Session is conducted at each ICC Meeting. We'll post the schedule later, but for now you can view Lauri Hiivala's on-line orientation presentation.
  • New Product Exhibits - Provided there is sufficient interest, we will be featuring New Product Exhibits from the ICC vendor community. If you are interested, read the guidelines and complete the form. Don't delay. Get the form to Vice-Chairman Mike Walker by March 27th.
  • Spouse Activities - Marjorie Hartlein has a number of interesting activities for the spouses: a city tour, Niagara Falls and museums. She says its even better than talking about underground cable or trying to define TRXLPE. No way!
  • Discount Travel
    • Delta Airlines is offering special discount air fares for the Toronto meeting.
