Dr. Jorge Guillermo
Calderón Guizar (jgcg@iie.org.mx)
Received
his Bsc degree in Electrical and Industrial Engineering from the Instituto
Tecnológico de Morelia, México, in 1983, Msc in Electrical Engineering from the
ESIME-IPN, México, in 1986 and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from UMIST,
Manchester UK, in 1995. He joined the Electrical Power Grid Department (GAR) of
the Mexican Electrical Power Research Institute (IIE) as a researcher in 1985.
In 1986 he was awarded the second prize in the 8th National Contest
of Master Thesis sponsored by CONACyT (The Mexican Science and Technology
Council) – CFE (The Mexican Electric Utility) – IIE (The Mexican Electrical
Power Research Institute). His research interests include steady state and
dynamical analyses and control of electrical power grids, currently his involved
in projects dealing with the application of FACTS controllers and voltage
stability problems in electrical power grids. Since 1999 he is member of the
Referee’s Board of CONACyT in the electrical engineering area. He is the
