Bernstein, Lee, Corcoran, Redman-White and Stetzler Elected to SSCS AdCom

In November balloting, SSCS members selected Kerry Bernstein, Bill Redman-White and Trudy Stetzler to join the Society’s AdCom, and reelected John C. Corcoran and H.S. (Harry) Lee to continue as voting members, from 1 January 2010 through 31 December, 2012.

All Society members except students were eligible to vote.

Bernhard Boser Elected President, Rakesh Kumar Elected Vice-President

At its biannual meeting on 17 August, the SSCS AdCom promoted Vice-President Bernhard Boser to the office of President, and Treasurer Rakesh Kumar to the office of Vice-President for two year terms spanning 2010-2011.

Prof. Bernhard E. Boser is a member of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley where he also serves as a Director of the Berkeley Sensor & Actuator Center.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar is President of TCX, a consulting services company. He is also CEO of ei2, a fabless product integration company.

The 2010 IEEE Presidents' Change the World Competition recognizes students who develop unique solutions to real-world problems using engineering, science, computing and leadership skills to benefit their community or humanity <http://www.ieeechangetheworld.org/>.

Chengjie Zuo Receives SSCS Predoctoral Fellowship for 2009-2010

Chengjie ZouChengjie Zuo of the University of Pennsylvania won the Solid-State Circuits Society’s Predoctoral Fellowship for 2009-2010.

According to SSCS reviewers, his Ph.D. research in the area of MEMS devices and high-frequency integrated circuits under the direction of Prof. Gianluca Piazza and Prof. Jan Van der Spiegel “has the potential to significantly impact the field of solid-state communication circuits.”

A profile of Mr. Zuo will appear in the Solid-State Circuits Magazine, Fall 2009.
