| Bernstein, Lee, Corcoran, Redman-White and Stetzler Elected to SSCS AdCom |

In November balloting, SSCS members selected Kerry Bernstein, Bill Redman-White and Trudy Stetzler to join the Society’s AdCom, and reelected John C. Corcoran and H.S. (Harry) Lee to continue as voting members, from 1 January 2010 through 31 December, 2012. All Society members except students were eligible to vote.

At its biannual meeting on 17 August, the SSCS AdCom promoted Vice-President Bernhard Boser to the office of President, and Treasurer Rakesh Kumar to the office of Vice-President for two year terms spanning 2010-2011.

The 2010 IEEE Presidents' Change the World Competition recognizes students who develop unique solutions to real-world problems using engineering, science, computing and leadership skills to benefit their community or humanity <http://www.ieeechangetheworld.org/>. The student who shows he or she can or has made a positive impact on the world can win US$10,000 plus a free trip to the 2010 IEEE Honors Ceremony in Montreal, Canada. If the winner is a member of a Society or Technical Council, his or her Society or Technical Council will receive recognition in press releases and the awards presentation at the 2010 IEEE Honors Ceremony. According to SSCS reviewers, his Ph.D. research in the area of MEMS devices and high-frequency integrated circuits under the direction of Prof. Gianluca Piazza and Prof. Jan Van der Spiegel “has the potential to significantly impact the field of solid-state communication circuits.” A profile of Mr. Zuo will appear in the Solid-State Circuits Magazine, Fall 2009. Chengjie Zuo of the University of Pennsylvania won the Solid-State Circuits Society’s Predoctoral Fellowship for 2009-2010.
