The Society concerns itself with land, airborne and maritime mobile
services; portable commercial and citizen's communications services;
vehicular electrotechnology, equipment and systems of the automotive
industry; traction power, signals, communications and control
systems for mass transit and railroads.

The Society has active chapters all over
the world.
The Society has several endowments to
support the education of students in the fields of interest.
Awards
In addition to scholarships and fellowships, the Society has
established a number of awards for paper
competitions, for technical excellence in the fields of interest,
and for service to the Society.

The VTS sponsors semi-annual international
conferences in the fields
of interest. The VTS co-sponsors additional conferences with
other Societies within IEEE and with other technical societies.
|
The society has several Technical Committees. Each Technical
Committee is intended to provide a source of technical and
professional advice in a particular field of interest. Some
Technical Committees (e.g. the Standards Committee) also provide
assistance to the other entities of the IEEE.

All IEEE Members are welcome to join the Vehicular Technology
Society. An electronic membership brochure as well as means of choosing the appropriate
membership application are available at the click of a button.

The VTS is managed by a Board of Governors,
consisting of 15 members elected by the membership five per annual
slate for three-year terms. Following a published
Constitution and
published Bylaws,
officers of the Society are elected and appointed.
