Laboratory of Low-Dimensional Nanostructures

  • Main Activity:
    • Growth and characterization of Bi-2212 single crystal whiskers. Fabrication of Bi-2212 stacked structures with intrinsic Josephson junctions and c-axis cross-whisker junctions.
    • Interlayer quasiparticle tunneling and intrinsic Josephson effects.
    • Dynamics of Josephson vortex lattice in stacked structures: dissipation mechanisms, coherent Josephson response to external subterahertz  radiation, interaction with pancake vortex lines, mechanisms of Josephson vortex lattice melting.
    • Growth of thin oxide superconducting films and heterostructures

Laboratory of Superconducting Devices
for Signal Detection and Processing

  • Main Activity:
    • Integrated superconducting submm receivers and spectrometers.
    • Technology for fabrication of superconducting integrated circuits based on high quality submicron Nb and NbN tunnel junctions with high current density.
    • Development, study and optimization of the superconducting phase locked Local Oscillator for integrated spectrometer.
    • Design, fabrication and experimental studies of a novel device: Cold Electron Bolometer (CEB). 
    • Development of the superconducting elements for operation at frequencies up to 1 THz. 
    • Superconducting Integrated Submm Spectrometer for Laboratory Applications. 
    • SQUID Amplifiers.
