Microcooler Workshop of the EU Project “S-Pulse”

April 22, 2008 (H24).  The Microcooler Workshop organized within the EU Project “S-Pulse” was held on April 7 and 8, 2008 at the University of Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands.  The purpose of the Workshop was the definition of cryocooler requirements for superconducting electronics, especially, but not only digital electronics.  The meeting was organized and chaired by Prof. Marcel ter Brake of Twente to bring together members of the two communities: that of superconducting electronics (SE) and that of small cryocoolers.
The term “microcooler” reflects the interest and direction of work of the organizer, but the Workshop was simply devoted to low-power cryocoolers, below, say, 1 watt at 4.2 kelvin.  The program schedule can be found here.  Twenty five participants from various European groups represented the two communities.  The concluding document defining the consensus reached at Workshop is in prepapration.
