2001 Summer Research Grant Recipients

To all IEEE NNC Student Summer Research Grant Applicants:

I am happy to inform you that the Committee on the IEEE NNC Student Summer Research Grants has completed its review and recommendations. The panel was invited by me, the NNC Education Activities Chair, to review and rank all proposals. We have received more excellent proposals than the allocated budget can accommodate. The students that have been chosen for support are listed (in alphabetical order) as follows:

  • Ivana Ljubic
  • Phayung Meesad
  • Ganesh K. Venayagamoorthy
  • Khurram Waheed

The NNC's policy is to support all IEEE student summer research grant recipients by the amount requested (less the amount request for travel to conference) or $4000, which ever is less. Students receiving awards must provide the following:

  1. A copy of your IEEE Student Membership Card for this year (2001);
  2. Proof of enrollment at your current University for the summer or fall semester of this year (2001).
  3. The address where you would like to receive your grant.
  4. A completed US tax form. Forms are available on the web. If you have a US Social Security number, you must fill out form W-9. If you do not have a US Social Security number, you must fill out form W-8.
  5. An email address where you can be reached

Please mail all information to:

On behalf of the IEEE Neural Networks Council, I want to extend my congratulations to all of you. The NNC is certain this Summer Research Program is a great investment in the future of computational intelligence. I regret that we are not able to support all of those who applied this time. I would like to thank all of you for applying to the program, and encourage those who did not succeed this time to apply for future NNC opportunities.

Sincerely,
Slawo Wesolkowski
Education Activities Chair
