IEEE SENSORS 2006
Irvine was a great success
The fourth IEEE Sensors 2005
Conference held in Irvine, California, USA. The conference has enjoyed an
atmosphere of high quality technical presentations on a broad range of
multidisciplinary topics related to sensors and sensor applications. The
IEEE Sensors attracted over 600 participants that are leaders, researchers, and
practitioners in the sensor field from around the world. This year we had 628
submissions from 48 countries, from among which 388 abstracts (310 oral and 78
posters) were selected for presentation at the conference, covering the theory,
design and applications of sensor devices and systems. More than 70 people
participated in a one day tutorial covering eight different topics in
theory and application of sensors. The number of tutorial attendees is the
largest since the conference started in 2001. The
IEEE Sensors 2005 Conference enjoyed the Best Student Paper Competition to
recognize excellence among its student participants. 113 student-papers were
submitted for the competition. 10
finalists have been selected and the Best Student Paper award was presented
at this year conference in Irvine. (see for details, http://ewh.ieee.org/tc/sensors/sensors2005/)
Surfboards,
beach balls and barbeque awaited more than 500 guests at UC Irvine’s reception
for attendees of the IEEE 2005 Sensors Conference. In addition to an “Orange
County” theme, conference attendees had the unique opportunity to participate
in technology demonstrations held in UCI’s National Fuel Cell Research Center
(NFCRC) and the California Institute for Telecommunication and Information
Technology (Calit2); as well as view more than 50 posters describing
leading-edge technologies designed in the Integrated Nanosystems Research
Facility (INRF). (see for details, http://www.eng.uci.edu/node/859)
