CALL FOR PAPERS
IEEE
Sensors Journal
The field of optical fiber
sensors has emerged during the past thirty years as an important part of modern
instrumentation and control systems. Optical fiber sensors have been developed
into commercial products, and new sensing and transduction methods have been
developed that will lead to new products and system approaches. Much innovation occurred in recent years. The
related material is spread among various publications, hiding the big picture. The
purpose of this special issue is to put
together a set of original research papers that represent the best in the
optical fiber sensors area, showing the state of the art as well as breadth and
depth of current research, and thus providing active researchers with a Journal
issue of archival value.
The representative topics on which submissions are sought are:
· Physical and mechanical
sensors
· System applications and
in-service field evaluation
· Sensors for electromagnetic
phenomena and process control
· Passive and active devices
for optical fiber sensing systems
· Optical fiber sensors of
chemical phenomena
· Optical fiber gyroscopes
· Interferometric and
polarimetric fiber sensors
· Sensor multiplexing and
networking
· Distributed fiber sensing
techniques
· Approaches for sensing using
fiber communication networks
· New applications in
environmental and biomedical sensing
· New applications in
nanotechnology
· New fiber sensor concepts
using photonic bandgap devices
For
manuscript preparation, please follow the guidelines in the Information for Authors at the IEEE Sensors Journal website, http://www.ieee.org/sensors.
All manuscripts must be submitted on-line, via the IEEE Manuscript CentralTM,
see http://sensors-ieee.manuscriptcentral.com
and http://www.ewh.ieee.org/tc/sensors/manuscript_central.htm.
Upon submission, please indicate
in Author Comments in Manuscript CentralTM,
and also by e-mail to Ms. Jo-Ellen Snyder, j.e.snyder@ieee.org,
that the paper is intended for this Special Issue.
All
submissions will undergo the standard peer review process of the IEEE Sensors
Journal.
