The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Enginers (IEEE) is the world's largest professional association for the advancement of technology. Further information about the mission and vision of IEEE is available at https://www.ieee.org/about/index.html.
The Central North Carolina (CNC) section is one of five (5) sections comprising the IEEE North Carolina Council. Also known as Area 2, the North Carolina Council lies in Region 3.
There are a number of local societies within CNC namely:
Three societies, Electronics Devices, Microwave Theory & Techniques and Solid-State Circuits, collectively known as "The Triple Society (ED/MTT/SSC)", coordinate activities and elect common officers to represent them.
Two societies, Communication and Signal Processing consist of a joint chapter and elect common office to represent them.
The IEEE Central NC Section is active in promoting Engineering and Technology in our local schools in the area of Teacher In-Service Training, Engineers in the Classroom, Career Fairs and a partnership with Guilford Education Alliance “Engineering Connections”. Section and NCA&T student chapter members support the local schools. www.TryEngineering.org is a primary portal promoted to students, teachers and staff.
