Membership Development Committee News
The most important news to come out of the February 16th online meeting of the Membership Development Committee was that current IEEE members of all grades who have not renewed their membership by February 29, 2008, WILL NOT be reminded of their impending lapsed membership and 2008 dues owed.

Instead, they will be AUTOMATICALLY dropped from IEEE membership list as of March 1, 2008. Thereafter, such lapsed members will only have access to the IEEE web page under their old user IDs and passwords for a short while to be determined.

After February 29, 2008, the lapsed members will have to join (rejoin) as new members. I don't know what the new membership status will be of formerly Senior Members who have allowed their membership to lapse.

IEEE Orlando Section Life Senior Member Died
Engineer Charles Finnigan's keen mind ranged from the stars to more down-to-earth interests.

Mr. Charles Finnigan, a life senior member of the Orlando Section, died in December at age 94. He was George McClure's boss at Martin Marietta in the 1960s, and a fine engineer. As a self-taught astronomer, computer programmer and licensed pilot, Charles Finnigan of Orlando had a passion for learning that he shared with family, friends and students. After graduating from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Finnigan worked for several companies and served as an adjunct professor of astronomy at Rollins College and the University of Central Florida.

IEEE Life Member Affinity Group
The IEEE Orlando Section is looking for IEEE Life Members who are interested in forming a group to provide an opportunity for socializing at meetings and also for giving back to the profession through volunteer activities and projects. Please contact Dr. Dave Flinchbaugh at
