LAST CHANCE FOR 2001 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL

Just a reminder that those IEEE members whose 2001 dues have not yet been
paid are no longer active members. If payment is not received by 1 August,
receipt of the IEEE election ballot will be jeopardized and, in addition,
continuity of membership can be lost. Members in Regions 8, 9 and 10 who
are submitting payment through Section Custody Accounts should pay
particular attention to the timing of late payments because of the built-in
delays due to the number of steps in the process.

Announcements can be made at meetings and in Section newsletters, or your
SAMIEEE database can be used to identify those individuals in arrears so
that a more personal approach can be employed. Membership renewals can be
submitted directly from the web at www.ieee.org/membership/renewal/.

Need some more good reasons for renewing? On that same web site, click the
link titled "The Benefits of IEEE Membership" and you will find lots of
them!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GRADUATES!

It is now graduation season in many places around the world. Sections can
reach out to offer warm congratulations and support to the IEEE 2001
graduates this year. Sections can identify their graduating Students by
using SAMIEEE to select Students and filtering by graduation date. For
SAMIEEE assistance, send an email to samieee@ieee.org.

CAN YOU TELL US?

On behalf of the IEEE Regional Activities Board (RAB) Industry Relations
Committee (IRC) and its Chair Dave Kemp, we need your help.

Please respond to a survey that addresses how your IEEE Section/Chapter has
or has not worked with corporations locally in support of IEEE activities.
Completing the survey should take less than ten minutes of your time. Your
input will help the IEEE RAB IRC accomplish its mission of working with
corporations to promote and inform the concept of IEEE membership. Please
note that the term "corporations" used in the survey encompasses local
industry, government agencies, and academia. The online survey can be
found at https://www.ieee.org/organizations/rab/scs/rabircsurvey.htm or you
can go to https://www.ieee.org/ra/scs and click on the link. Thank you.

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW

Effective 31 May 2001, the following IEEE Web sites have been permanently
shut down:

*Transaction/Journals/Letters Preview (
https://www.ieee.org/organizations/pubs/pub_preview/pub_prev.html)

*OPeRA (https://www.opera.ieee.org/)

*Bibliographies Online (https://www.biblio.ieee.org/)

The good news is that all users will be redirected to the IEEE Xplore(TM)
site (https://www.ieee.org/ieeexplore). IEEE Xplore provides members with
an interface for accessing their personal IEEE subscriptions and
abstract/citation records of the complete online collection. Members will
need an IEEE Web account to access content in IEEE Xplore; OPeRA account
numbers are no longer in effect. IEEE members can register for an IEEE Web
Account at https://www.ieee.org/web/accounts.

SENIOR MEMBER NEWS

A complete listing of the newest IEEE Senior Members, arranged by Region

Bellevue, Washington, USA on 12 May 2001. For listings from previous

WHAT'S NEW @ IEEE CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY

On 1 June 2000, IEEE published the first issues of the What's New @ IEEE
