Welcome to IEEE Savannah Section

Welcome to the Savannah Section of IEEE, the low country of the southeast coast and the warm hospitality of over 200 members that call this home. We hope you will spend some time at our web site and if your travel plans allow you to visit Savannah or the surrounding area of Georgia and South Carolina we hope your visit is enjoyable.

The Savannah section has held meetings regularly during our varied 50 year history. We serve Electrical/Electronics Engineers from the south-east counties of Georgia and three southern counties in South Carolina,- about a 50 mile radius. Once each month, members relax over dinner and discuss their concerns and accomplishments. The major industries in the area are Aerospace Manufacturing, Pulp and paper, Electric power, Ship Building and Laser technology. Engineers/scientists from these industries have found the meetings to be most informative and helpful to our careers. Cooperation with other professional societies like the Instrument Society of America, Coastal Empire Section provides an expanded opportunity to "network" with our peers. Georgia Southern University, Savannah State University and Armstrong Atlantic State University are the main universities that are involved in the IEEE Savannah section.

The section furnishes judges for science fairs and awards prizes. It has organized seminars on EE subjects such as Internet usage and Health effects of extra low frequency fields. Satellite programs have been down-linked for view by members. The meetings feature talks about the latest advances in our technology.
