John Vara

 

John Vara is a Substation Design Engineer at Xcel Energy in Amarillo, Texas.  He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in December of 2009 and a Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in May 2011.  While attending Texas Tech University's Masters program, he published a paper titled, "Gas Evolution Measurements in a Sealed Vircator Tube."  It was presented at the 2010 IEEE International  Power Modulator and High Voltage Conference (IPMHVC) in Atlanta, Georgia.  He has served as community service chair for the Panhandle section of IEEE.  As community service chair, John plans to continue reaching out to the community and volunteering to bring in the next generation of young engineers.
