IEEE Organisations?

Thousands of IEEE member volunteers provide the leadership in IEEE organizations and activities. Supporting these volunteers is a fulltime professional staff.

The IEEE is made up of

nearly 1,300 individual and joint Society chapters, and more than 300Sections.

1,450 Student Branches are located at colleges and universities worldwide.

The IEEE is governed by a Board of Directors (Board) and Executive Committee (ExCom). The delegates representing the 10 IEEE Regions and 10 technical divisions (IEEE Societies) comprise the Assembly.

Elections are held annually for many of these positions as well as for the top officers.

The IEEE Corporate Activities staff supports the Board, ExCom and the Assembly, and many of the IEEE Committees.

Top officers are the President, who is the chief executive and serves one year. Sharing some of the duties of the Office of the President are the President-elect and the Past President.

The Executive Director is the full-time chief operating officer.
